May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 5:23
Our mission is to bring hope and healing to the body and spirit. We hope to be used by the Lord to train and equip the Kunas so they might be whole in body and spirit. The average eduction is the 3rd grade. The Kuna Missionary is always looking for outside pastors and resources that will equip his local pastors. They struggle with transmission of information due to their isolation. Sponsored Bibles and mission teams that can offer pastor training is encouraged. As for the body, we support the local clinics and hospitals by providing additional medical care or training to personnel. If you have any clinical training, that can be put to great use!
Education is Key
Spirit: Bible Trainings
The island of Ailigandi (center of Kuna Yala) is the home of the Kuna Missionary. He works to train and connect pastors between the islands. Most pastors have a 3rd grade education. One of our greatest influences is to host Bible classes for those pastors. We are always looking for ministers to join us in our mission to train these pastors to carry out their call in Kuna Yala. We also give a Bible to every pastor.
Body: Medical Assistance & Training
Dr. Daniel I. Gruver was the first medical missionary to visit the Kunas. In fact, when Congresso decided to build a hospital, they canoed in dirt to make room on the island for the hospital space. Before that he completed his procedures often by kerosene lantern when late night emergencies arose. Today, the hospital still stands and provides great care. However, more hands and care is always welcome and needed. Dr. Daniel M. Gruver continues his optometry ministry every visit while others come offering blood pressure checks, CPR training, dentistry and more.
